• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

spark plug gap

I had a 79 390 CR and my notes say .024

So i would stay in the .023-.024 range as the Motoplats are not known for a strong spark so a tighter gap will work best

I went down to .018 with a B8EG-fine wire nickle. Starts alot easier and reduces tendency to foul at idle. Harry Taylor suggested I try that because it takes some load off of the coil and it advances the spark timing slightly to compensate for weak generation in old Motoplat like HighDez said.

I have to ask... who is Harry Taylor? Great information by the way!

Harry Taylor has been racing/building bikes since the early fifties. He was Hodaka's R-D man, he won the 1968 Daytona road race 100cc class on a 90cc Hodaka he hand built. He started out in the Yakima Washington area and had built Jim Pomeroy's first race bike-Yamaguchi. Later after Hodaka he was R-D guy for starting Line Products. His specialty is porting, engine building and pipes. He turned 75 last summer during Hodaka days which is in Athena Oregon, population 1000 about ten minutes north of me. I wish I had known him before he retired from SLP, he had a dyno trailer at his home for testing his porting and pipes. He raced vintage MX untill two years ago, heart problems. My best friend owns his former YZ175 bike- it will eat my 82-430XC, unbelievable power. He is a good friend and a great information resource. He is going to teach me how to build a pipe for my 430 this winter and I will very much value that time spent.
