• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I ended up with Blakes gopro and grabbed some pix off it. Just thought you might like to see how the trails in the NW look.

Fun.

Spring and fall are epic, summer is dusty and dry, winter is sloppy wet muck. That was a real nice day.

Was an awesome day.... Weather / condition wise, might be the best we get...

That stupid chunk of mud....

Looks like where we rode in the PNW but I think we were miles north of you with St Helens between us ... same ferns, same trees(up and down), same big stumps, same moss .... we had pumice up there everywhere ... Lots of it looked like it was manicured ...

Most if not all the trails we rode in GPNF were made around the early 1900s I think ... They were made for the fire look-outs ... People had to walk or ride horses\mules in there to see what was happening ... People can cry and complain all they want but motorcycles help keep them open by riding them ... Lots of the areas we were in had volcanic several feet deep after St Helens erupted ... The knobbies would of course dig a hole out there and it would be mostly ash usually ...

This is Badger Lake I think ...BagderLake1 (2).jpg

This is totally different from the riding we did in GPNF, probably due north of MT ST Helens and well south of HIway 12. No spring or summer riding due to snow... Snow lines control the riding time each yr ... Our area must have been at a higher altitude I guess ... The snow was just another cool aspect for riding to us ... We saw it ~mid July come and go, then it returned Nov(?) and force us out ... We'd start at the bottom and ride into ... Just like seeing an old friend come and go each yr ...

Here's a map of that area ... You guys ride over in' the Silver Star area? Or do you go west?

Running south to north or vise-versa between HIway 12 & Vancouver and between Adams and St Helens would be a good way
to spend some time. Might be some GPS files out there on a route, maybe alot of true woods roads and trails ...

Ray, my pictures are at the coast range. Yes thats badger lake you show and yes only open for about 5 months a year due to high elevation snow. I ride there a lot in the summer / fall and know all those trails very well.
