• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New to the site and looking at tracking my '11 SMR 511.

With hand guards fitted the previous owner had filed off the ball end to allow front brake lever to fit - scrutineering FAIL!

I have read the posts regarding Titax for Aprillia Mille 99-03 etc but there are conflicting opinions and the images Ive seen on sites dont reflect current lever/MC set up.

Any advice on shorty Brake/Clutch levers would be greatly appreciated - especially locally here in Oz.

I am about to do mine, I did the same on my ducati.

I cut them at the indent in the lever, bevel the edge, and then powdercoat them satin black. They look FANTASTIC! And fit the bill perfectly. Cost of 0$ too. But my bike is my daily rider right now so not time to down it.

That is whats currently fitted and if just a roadie wouldnt have any issues. However MA CGRs state all leavers must have a ball end - regardless of whether hand guards are fitted!

Get the brembo RCS 15 shorty lever, comes with a new master cylinder for free too... lol
WOuld LOVE LOVE LOVE - have the RCS 19 on my gixxer but alas, got in supermoto for the reduced (hoping) costs vs supersport. Oh my stupidty! Down the track (pardon the pun) Ill look at the Brembo (or maybe Beringer) systems but atm just after levers. Guessing the 99-03 Aprillia Mille RSV shorty (brake) and '10 KTM 530 shorty (clutch) through ASV might be the go. From what Ive read anyway.

Dropped my te tonight and snapped the brake lever..... oh well. I like it shorter..

the brake pedal bent all to hell, that thing id a pos.

Just wanted to update I ended up getting the ARC levers and they feel FANTASTIC. Way better than my prior ASV levers. I tried everything on earth to keep asv levers from buzzing or rattling. These have no issues, say Husqvarna and are grippy instead of smoothe. Nice for the price.

Sinkers, what did you end up going with? I'm in the same boat.

I was waiting on a mate to order ASV levers (Brake off Aprilia RSV Mille 99-03, clutch off 2010 KTM 530) but the Oz Supplier is having issues with obtaining/importing stock. I will be looking for Pazzo/Titax levers this week for the models above from ebay.

On a seperate note, not sure if the SMR is going to meet my needs re a track bike but we'll see what happens.

ARC levers were in stock from motoxotica when I bought them last week. Not too expensive and much nicer than the ASV levers I have used in the past. Every asv set rattles on the stop. The arc does not.

None of which helps those of us who have SMR511's cause we have a different clutch setup. :(
