  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Smr 510 Front Rotor Options

SMR510 Rider

Husqvarna
B Class
Hey guys, need some advice on front rotors for the SMR. I warped the stock one and didn't want to drop a lot of money, because I was thinking about selling. Bought and used stock one and now I've warped that one. Time to get a good one. Goals: difficult to warp, easy to install.
Options:
beringer street rotor. Solid disk while others are vented. Why?
Motomaster: street, seems average. Race, good warp resistance, won't work with stock caliper?
Warp 9 Apex, 5 mm, cheaper

Any experiences are helpful

Does the 510 use an offset disc? If so be careful with the Beringer's, most if not all are flat (no offset from the mount to the brake surface), my 511 had a flat rotor by 'Braking', but I believe the 510 ran an offset brembo rotor.

Another question is how are you using the bike? Track riding? road riding? in the wet? water crossings/puddles?? A common way to warp rotors is go through water after hard braking, the disc goes from super hot to being quenched...

My research has led me to believe that the Beringer and Moto-Master race are not compatible with the stock caliper.
I do road riding. I warped it while on a long curvy road, fairly fast, but not hard braking zones. No water. On the slow trails where I find water I use a lot of engine braking and very little front brake.

My options for a stock replacement seem to be:
Warp 9 Apex: 5 mm disk, steel hub
Moto-Master Street: 4 mm disk, aluminum hub
Any ideas on the warp resistance of steel vs aluminum? The expensive ones seem to use aluminum. I know aluminum dissipates heat much more quickly.

I have a like new OEM brembo rotor from my 09 smr that i would consider letting go. Let me know if your interested and we can come up with a price and shipping.

Thanks
Jake

Thanks for the replies. I was told that the Motomaster Flame disk would work, so I ordered it. But after a month I still haven't received it. Now they are saying they don't have any in stock and it will be awhile. I'm requesting a refund and going with the Braking disk. It's also aluminum carrier and 5 mm. Hopefully, it will bolt right up with no issues and it'll be a good buy.

Update: I bought the Braking disk off ebay and am really happy with the fit and finish. Works great so far. I haven't put enough km on it to say whether it's more warp resistant than the stock one, but it looks more beefy and better made.
