• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Sm610 top clamp question

Hi
When I measured the top clamp for ordering a set of HDB set for my Sm610 (2009) I found the sizes to be 86/50 bolt pattern.

However I didnt see any such size on the HDB web site.

Can any of you who has a SM610 pls clarify if my sizing is correct or not?

Rajan

The 86mm is correct, but HDB only offers the 38/40mm to fit their lower clamps, or equivalent. The stock clamps are much deeper than normal as their method of offering forward placement of the bars. You can rotate the HDB clamps for a bit of forward placement also.

So you will want to get both upper and lower clamps. Other model bikes and aftermarket clamps have bolt holes equi-distant to the bar centerline so ordering only a top clamp can make sense for them.

The 86mm is very narrow and creates a slight challenge to fit an underbar mounted steering damper, but it is possible, I have a prototype HDB submount with modified lower clamps. The lower clamps have to have clearance machined into them on the approprate side for forward or rearward bar position. He is working on final versions.

In the image below you can see the HDB lower clamps with an offset triple clamp bolt.
