• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I have a 2009 SM610 that I changed the stock (15/45) sprockets to 16/42. Just got it back from its 6200 mile service and the tech told me that I should change the front sprocket back to the 15 because the 16 tooth sprocket was causing chain lash on the gear box, there is no "Cush drive" on my model and puts stress on the gears. I wanted to know from the forum if anyone had heard of this? Thanks!

Ditto on what the Ace said. However, if he is seeing ware on the case you need to follow up with your own inspection and readjust the chain if needed. You don't want to screw up the case to benifit a gearing. Check and see what comes close to the ratio you are looking for running the 15.

Never heard of it. I have had a 16T up front for 5,000 on my 2008 610SM and have not experienced any issues. I have the stock rear sprocket.

Thank you all. It's pretty much what I was thinking. I will check to be sure there is enough space and no interference. As a precaution, I'll look to changing out the rear sprocket to get the same ratio! I appreciate all of your responses!

I'm thinking like you about the gearing. Have you noticed an improvement in 1st & 2nd gear? I have stock gearing and 1st gear feels like a creeper gear. I wish I could wind 1st & 2nd gear out further.
