  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

    Thanks for your patience and support!

SM610 2007 rear brake line (hose) replacement / discontinued parts?!

gws

Husqvarna
C Class
Hi all,

I noticed suddenly poor braking on the rear, coupled with a wetness on the rear brake line emerging from underneath the protective sheath (mid-hose). Swapping brake lines is a trivial task for me, so I wasn't expecting to be down for very long - but:

- Hall's said they estimated it would take a month to get the brake line;

- Munroe in SF (who I decided to order through, as they were local and thought they could get parts with a two-week lead time) called me two weeks after ordering to tell me that the part was discontinued by the manufacturer and HAD NO REPLACEMENT PART LISTED;

- I see no pre-made aftermarket lines for this bike.

What the hell? If it's this hard to find such a basic wear item, I'm seriously considering selling the bike after I fix it.

Does anyone have a lead on reasonably priced lines (steel is preferred), or know with certainty rear brake line compatibility between the 07 SM610 and any other bike that has readily available lines? I'm contemplating making my own at this point, but the fittings (and fitment) look remarkably similar to my DR650... desperate times.

cheers,
Greg

Contact Galfer, they can make you a custom line for not much and have it to you in a week. I have had three or four done for my zx-10R's

Depending on where you are .... Venhill make premium quality fuel, hydraulic etc. lines and I´d get mine from them rather than replacing with original makes.

A good hydraulic shop in your area should be able to make one up for you. The fittings and hose sizes are very common.
