  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I will have a few pounds spare in a few days when I sell off one of my bike projects

My husky has been neglected due to funds and has been stored away in my garage as it has no mot or tax 8-(

I have a few bits to sort like the speedo, as the display only shows up part of the digits, what I wondered is, if I push down on the LCD or wiggle the plug I can get more of the display to show

Has anyone taken apart a speedo to check/repair any solder joints? As it would save me purchasing a new one

Secondly my pv works as and when it pleases, it doesn't do the self clean when I turn the ignition on, is there a way to check with a multimeter too see if the bike is sending voltage to the solenoid? Or a way to test the pv by running power to certain cables on the solenoid/motor?

Any help would be great! I can't wait to get it back on the road as the sound is pure beauty and it feels amazing to ride 8-)

Firstly I would check the fuses box, when my 10 amp fuse had blown my pv never came on or off with the ignition on startup, soon as I changed the fuse, it did it everytime and still does[ though its quite gunked up atm]. The sms is probably different but I have three fuses underneath my seat. Unfortunately I don't know about the speedo but I would reccomend putting on a cheap universal one if you're considering mot'ing or selling it on, might work out cheaper/ more reliable than the electronic one

Non plans to sell but I do need an mot

It will pass an mot as is as the screen does come on and display some characters 8-)

I have 3 fuses too the left of my seat 2x15 1x3amp as per the manual but sadly these didn't help

When it was all connected up the pv would work sometimes and then stop, if I have the too wire a tug it would generally work for a bit , I assumed this was due to being gunked up and stuck but having removed the pv motor I can freely pull the blades open and shut with no resistance 8-)

I'm thinking due to the clocks being faulty maybe they aren't sending the rpm signal to the pv solenoid to open up
