• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Single exhaust option sms 630

I have a 2011 sms 630 and although I have trawled the threads on this am still unsure whether there is a single exhaust option for the 630 or not. My aim is primarily weight reduction. I understand the stock dual exhausts can be gutted and the expensive Arrow dual system can be used as well to reduce weight but can the FMF single can be used instead and is it a simple bolt on installation? Assuming FMF is one of the few options left as Leo Vince is no more. Thanks

Yea, looks like FMF is it. They have several types, I've been eyeing the Q4 myself, but the Can/US exchange is so bad for me right now it would cost about $800 bucks, and I can't justify that kinda coin for a single slip on, even if it does include a midpipe.

Hi
I just purchased a 2011 630 and it has an aproprovic single system
The guy I bought it off said he felt an improvement. It also leaves room to fit a tool tube on the right hand side.
There is a cone to quietening it down. I would recommend it as it is a bit loud. Also you save a bit of weight.

Pretty easy install. The mid pipe slips on (use some high temp silicon sealant) and uses one of the bracket you'd use for the passenger seat (although I'm pretty sure you could get away without it)
The muffler uses the same subframe mount as the original.

You might also look into GPR. They are out of Italy and the UK (I think) dist. is on eBay.
I have a full single system on my TR650 that I consider well made and better fitting than the Full Ti Akrapovic system on my long gone KTM 640sm.

So the FMF mid-pipe is a 2-1 configuration?

Thanks. I like the GPR, but I am being cheap and it looks like I can get the FMF Powercore for about $475 w/ free shipping...

The FMF single can system came in and it is a simple fit which is great.

Mjskier- looks like you did not need to use any band clamps to secure the midpipe to the headers. Is that right or am I not seeing the detail in your pic? Makes it even an easier instal without the clamps.

No band clamp between midpipe and any component (header of muffler)
I just used liberal amount of high temp silicon to prevent any leaks.

Also, use thread lock if you install a spark arrestor or dB killer. I lost my first one, a $39 oversight I don't care to repeat!

FMF is a great option for weight reduction. Very noticeable difference. See my earlier post for a comparison of several options: http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/best-pipe-for-the-630.15644/page-9#post-226529 I currently am selling my TE630 and have bundled in a set of like-new Arrows, Performance ECU and FMF system with an extra unused stainless steel mid-pipe. Arrows have maybe 30 miles, the FMF less. I did not care for the extra noise, so I never used them. BTW, I had spoken to an FMF Tech at the time of purchase and was told that the Factory 4.1 pipe is actually quieter than the Q4 "quiet" pipe. FYIW. FMF install is bolt on, though you should put a ring of high-heat gasket sealer on the mid-pipe before slipping on the silencer.

Sorry for slow reply. I ran a set of Pirelli Diablo Rossa Corsas although a got a nail in the rear when touring out west and the only replacement was a Metzler Tourance. Odd couple but it has worked out well for gravel road expeditions.
what kind of tires are those in your pic ?
