• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Silly question but...

Good luck finding one new. Not many dealers around. You might have to ask your local Husqvarna dealer to find you one and get it shipped.

You can find a low mileage used model if you look around. Parts should be available for years to come.

I find it a bit amazing how many people were in denial over the fact that Husqvarna didn't make a 630 for 2012, even after all the new models were introduced for the year and that bike was absent from the line up. People were so hopeful that something was going to come out at a later date....I followed that one forum about "the new 630" possibility that went on and on for many pages.....

Should I look at the ktm 690 then? I already have a wr300 for trails that's duel sported...but...lol it's not a fun duel sport. I want something I can hit the freeway in a pinch, hit an occasional trail, be a once a month commuter and fire road explorer. there's a gazillion zippy roads with dirt roads right out my front door to so...

Yes, I think the 690 would be an excellent choice and exciting ride. The 2012 is a true 690, 2011 & prior a 650 but still no slouch. Reported mechanical gremlins are what turned me off buying one, leading me to a TE instead. The TE was also far, far better value for money.

The TE630 is still widely available new in Australia, but all the shops market them as 2011 models rather than 2012. Not sure whether they're still rolling off the producion line in Italy though, probably not.

Woodschick run full knobs on the SM wheels or get a 18/21 set. I'm sure she will tell you what her set up is.

KTM 690 is what I'd be on right now if the local dealer could get me one. I had to get a bike shipped no matter what I got, so I went with the one that looked cooler. :D
