  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Shipping a dirtbike cost?....?.

How much does it cost to ship a dirtbike let's say from the Midwest to the east coast ( Ct) who do you use for a shipper? I found a husky of my dreams. I want to get back a model I parted with.

Or would it be better to ship it in pieces since it needs a restoration anyway?

I never did this before so sorry for the dumb questions.

if there was a choice of together vs. in pieces
I would say complete, if nothing else less likely to not include parts
also a quick integrity assessment on your part, plus a quick look at the bigger picture

Price would probably depend on shipper . Have seen $650 from Cali to Vt . Make sure shipper is legal for all states they have to pass thru and insured . Buddy had a bike shipped and got pulled over . He had a new bigger trailer but wasn't legal for the stated trailer weight . Trooper wouldn't allow trailer to be back on road until all paperwork taken care of . Bike had to be put into a storage unit until driver could prove all legal again . Needless to say it wasn't a quick delivery but did get here .

Cheaper if you are patient with the delivery schedule. I paid $800 for coast to coast, $500 from TX, $400 from FL, $600 from MN (to RI). I've used HaulBIKEs, uship and random people. If its a museum piece, pay up and use HAULBIKES. Have the seller take a ton of pictures before its loaded.

true distance does matter.... a show bike does matter.....he asked from Midwest to new England and on a dirt bike. waiting til a shipper is making a "run" through the pickup area and heading to your area matters too. can knock off some bucks. why I said the $400 figure as an "average"

I had very good service from Federal Motorcycle Transport recently... they strap the bike to a special pallet and have great tracking. Wasn't the cheapest. Did include $6000 "free" insurance. It did arrive early and without a scratch. I saved a few bucks by picking it up at the local moving and storage warehouse instead of having it delivered right to the house. A while back I sold a Yamaha to a guy back east who used U-ship. He got a great price and everything went well.
