  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

shifting question

I have the 12 te 310 , took it for a ride on the street today with just my regular shoes on , bike has 500 miles on it got it new 7 mos ago , changed the oil after 300 miles , Question is my cruiser shifts really smooth , and my 310 is really stiff , feels fine in dirt with my riding boots on , but with a pair of regular boots wasn t much fun , is this a break in thing that will smooth out over time or is it just how dirt bikes are , new to them so could use ur opinion. thank you.

Shifting might be a little subjective but none of my Huskies have ever been a toeClick shift bike.... The lower RPM shifting is not a soccer kick but I'm aware of "do not miss this shift" from time to time ...I've also noticed that at the higher RPMs shifting gets easier ... Not exactly sure where ...maybe 8K or so, just a guess as I have no tach ... This is the type of action I ~almost expect from Huskies ... If you wanna take something away from the bottom, ok, but you need to add something extra when I get to the top side ...

Try a change of oil - and I mean the make of oil you use.

My dealer used to put Mobil oil in his bikes - wouldn't touch anything else as he'd had good results with it.
Then he changed one of his customer bikes to Castrol (as recommended by Husky), and said how much smoother the clutch and gearchange action was. He now uses Castrol in his customer 250/310 bikes!

These of course may not have the same formulation on your side of the pond, but it's worth a try for the few dollars it costs to change the oil.

And by the way - mine is quite stiff too!
Just don't ride with thin boots

I think it's the shoes. I had running sneakers on the other day while taking a ride on the street I couldn't believe how much the top of my foot hurt.
