• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Shenandoah 500 Shenanigans and Hand Guard Questions

TR650 Mike

Husqvarna
B Class
So I have been trying to get the bike ready for the Shenandoah 500. I have been reading everyone's posts and I decided to go with Power Mad risers, Alt Rider crash bars, Seat Concepts saddle, and the Happy Trails Bash plate. Now with all of that being said I am looking at hand/lever guards, and I am trying to determine which way to go on this one. Has anyone had their guards tested out by a wayward sapling, a lost branch, or a Terra nap? Also, did your guys guards mount over the bar weights, or did you have to pay extra new ones? Has anyone forgone the weights all together? Is that manageable or is it like holding on to palm sanders? Is anyone else going to the Shenandoah 500, or has anyone been in the past? 20140903_142539.jpg

I'm running Highway Dirt Bikes hand guards as well, couldn't be happier!

You will need adapters if you get the 1 1/8" bars, or you can just keep the 7/8" bars. I bent my stock bars by loosing my balance and pushing down to hard on them.

I had HDB make them for me. I kept the stock bars gave them the measurements and they milled them and sent them with my order.

I was at cycle gear and they had a set of Track Side hand guards on sale for $44 so I pulled the trigger. The install required a little bit of fine tuning with a 18" crescent wrench, and a vice but all in all they were easy to put on. What a deal though! The backbone is is super stout 1/4" thick aluminum and the hand guards look half way decent.
