• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Safari tanks TR650

Toyboy

Husqvarna
AA Class
Did shoot an email to the folks in AU for an update on the 25L tank they are working on for the TR's.

Hi Dave,

The TR650 tank is in early stages of development at the moment.
We will be testing the TR650 in July this year.

Once the tank is available may I suggest that for your convenience you go through our American distributor, Just Gas Tanks

Anyone purchase this tank yet? Waiting for more information from how it connects to the factory tank before I bite the bullet and order one.

Hi, just bought a magazine project bike with the safari tank (literally picked it up Sat morning). Didn't come with the instructions but I've asked for a copy from the supplier.

From what i can see (and as described by the dealer), there are two separate halves of the tanks with separate feeder lines. Each line has its own on/off valve (on the inside of the tanks positioned under the radiator). These join to a main on/off valve which then connects to the main fuel tank. The fuel is gravity fed from the safari tanks to the main tank. Each tank has to be filled separately. Thats right, three fuel caps. You can just run on the main tank, without having the others in use if you use your bike for commuting(I'll be doing a lot of. Hope the helps.

Is there a threaded socket in the main tank where you install the on/off valve? Is it a drain point for the main tank that's plugged at the moment?

Just so I'm following this. The Main On/Off valve is a new piece that is connected between the stock tank and the two halfs of the Safari Tank, correct? You can control with Safari tank side is open by a secondary On/Off switch at the front of each Safari Tank side; you can either close or open either side of the Safari tanks. I like the fact you can close both Safari sides and run just the main tank or a combination of all 3 tanks.

Very Nice Darman! That was the bike that got me thinking about the TR. It definitely looks the goods!

The attached photos show the on/off valves on the tanks and the main valve to the main tank. I didn't install so am not sure how it was done.

Correct on all counts. Good idea if you don't want to run with the extra fuel weight for normal commuting or if you get a puncture from a fall and need to isolate one side. The tanks are pretty sturdy so likelihood of a puncture is low I think.

Thanks. Only had it three days now and I'm falling in love. Smooth well balanced ride, responsive and agile. I got lucky it came up at the right time.

Thanks for the pics. So we will have to drill into the stock tank…. Hmmmm...
Hmmmm indeed.
It appears they've used some glue to assist with retention. I'd remove the tank and have a boss plastic welded that can be drilled & tapped for the fitting providing durability.
No fitting instructions on their website so this is speculation on my behalf.

Hi all, just recieved an email from Wayne at Safari. Be another 2-3 weeks before they release their instructions for the TR650 tanks. Said they'd be released on the web site. Will have to keep an eye out for them. Cheers
