• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Our club’s adventures are shared group expense and dirt-oriented; our rides vary in elevation, mileage, weather and types of trails/roads and often cover long distances by Roll- Chart and/or GPS.
Exit Tours M/C is a Colorado non-profit Corporation and is an AMA Chartered club
The purpose of the Exit Tours Motorcycle Club is to create positive recreational riding activities that benefit our club members, their families, friends and our guests.

Exit Tours Motorcycle Club is called Exit Tours because it is based in Salida, Colorado where the Arkansas River ‘Exits’ the mountains and because Salida means ‘Exit’ in Spanish. ‘Tours’ because we tour the mountains.
WP_0017621.jpg
We work to minimize pavement mileage, maximize scenery and fun, and generally only use paved roads as necessary to tie dirt loops together and access amenities. Our rides cover routes you cannot put together on a map. If you could put the routes on a map, you couldn’t follow the map as trail markings in the Rocky Mountains are, even in designated riding areas, often missing, non-existent, outdated, misplaced or confusing.
We use a “High Adventure, No Hassle “ approach where you can share the experience with like-minded enthusiasts’ and experience what the Rocky Mountains have to offer.

Chaffee County, Colorado should truly be called a ‘Mecca’ for off-road motorcyclist’s. The Arkansas River starts to the North in Leadville and exits the Rocky Mountains to the East through Salida, which means ‘Exit’ in Spanish. There are more 14 thousand foot peaks in Chaffee County than in any other County in the Continental U.S. The Continental Divide runs through the Western part of the County and the Rio Grande River watershed is the Southern boundary. There are hundreds of miles of old mining roads, railroad right of ways and singletrack trails in the area. Plus one of the only portions of the Continental Divide trail open to motorcycles.

In some states, like Colorado, you don't need a 'Factory' Dual Sport.

For an OHV Motorcycle to be ‘street legal’ and Registered in Colorado it must be inspected by the local Sheriff and have:

  • Working Headlight
  • Taillight
  • Brake Light
  • Electric Horn
  • DOT Tires
  • Mirror (1)
  • Registration fees and Taxes paid
  • Turn Signals are NOT required

See this link for more Info: Colorado Dual Sport & OHV Regulations

You could make a motorcycle like this 2014 FE 350 street legal in Colorado no problem.

Such cool pictures. This is a cheap way to see the best of CO. Never mind everything that's included but the fact that you can spend time riding trails that are great rather then finding them. Keep the pictures and videos coming :)

Or as Ron Coop says: Up and over them !
This was the first Colorado trip for most of us in the photo. The group consisted of 7 friends from the Lafayette, Louisiana area. All of the riders are guys that rode as teenagers then got back into riding in the last 10 years. The 2 missing riders had blown a corner and were on another trail when that photo was taken.
The sign was a ploy to get us in the Dirt Rider magazine. Needless to say it didn’t work.
Back to the trip, we rented a house in Crested Butte. We rode for 5 days with each ride starting out on Cement Creek Rd. Scott was the navigator and took us on 5 different full day rides. The longest trips were to Aspen and back. We stayed on single track for most of each days rides and had over 550 miles after 5 days. The most memorable parts of that years trip were Flag Mountain and getting caught in a late evening rain storm and riding for hours to get back. On the final leg of that wet ride we all cheered and speed up when we realized we could see the house. All of us struggle to make a big trip such as this but its was well worth the trouble.
We were back again in 2013 and now have plans to ride the July Exit Tours M/C Singletrack from the Ponderosa Lodge Colorado 2 Day trailride on July 18-20, 2014.
And then possibly head up to Sargents, Colorado and the Tomichi Creek Trading Post at Secret Creek for 3 more Days of riding on a Custom ride with a ETMC Team member: Custom Rides http://rockymountainsingletrack.net/custom-rides/
Most of the guys in the photo ride at Forest Hill Louisiana in the Camp Clayborn National Forest. The local club, the Acadiana Dirt Riders has an Enduro each year. The club hosted several NEPG National Enduro races in the last few years. The trails are single track with great dirt and uses nearly 80 miles of trails.
