  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

A Class
I own a 2012 Te310 and was thinking about buying new tires as the Metzler Karoo tires are lacking in the dirt. I got some feedback when I last posted this and it was great. The bike came with a 140/80-18 and a 90/90-21. The front I get but why such a wide tire on the rear. They are supposed to come with a 120. Is this a bad thing?

Get a 120, I am running a Pirelli 110 on my 450 that actually measures 120 and it handles great, much faster directional changes than on a 140..

Yup, get a 110-130. Different brand tires measure differently when they are actually measured.
I think the 140 Karoo is too big for even my 610.

Normal dirt bike rears are 110/100 x 18. I run a 100/100 X 18 for a slightly lower seat height/more tire clearance on the mud flap.

I run the bridgestone 404 rear and m59 front on my 450 and really like them. Great for rock and roots. 120/100 rear.

Sorry 110/100!

Thanks for all the info. I'll probably make a move before next spring with tires, 12 point injector and Powercommander V.

A lot of trail riders up here use DOT trials tires on the rear. Shinko and Pirelli are two favorites. Both are in a 4.00 x 18.

You have a te310 which has less power than my txc310 and I would never run anything over a 120 on my bike so I reccommend you do the same thing.

The Pirelli MT43 or the Kenda 270 are both perfect tires for the 310's if you are not in sand.

I am running a Pirelli XMCH 120/100/18 on the rear right now, probalbly will switch to the 110 next time, it handles good, but is pretty tall, even at 6'3" I am on my tiptoes in the dirt.
