  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Finally got my '10 Te 250 out into the woods the other day after waiting a couple of months for the monsoons to let up. until now I had only ridden some dirt (muddy) roads and an occasional few laps on the MX track about a mile from my house.
It's so nice to have the bike out where it belongs! It was a bit slippery but I only had two almost crashes and the rest of the time was just pure fun.

The first few seconds in the "city" (?) where on coming traffic is sometimes in your lane made my eyes go :eek:and the guy with all those boxes on the scooter
Other then that it's pretty and so is your wife
:D

You have some great area to ride...looks endless...How do you like the 250?
True Dave. I took the easiest route on that day because it was still pretty slick ( I left out the 15 minutes when I had to dismount to get up a limestone hill covered with green algae). The ride was about an hour long but I've done one loop thats around 20 miles on my MTB and plenty of areas I have yet to explore. Loving the 250!

Oh, if you only knew... quite often there will be a family of five on one of those scooters or the guy on back of the bike is holding a 2 meter tall pane of glass. It's certainly not a country to let your mind wander in while on the road. Happily my wife is 3 months preggers (she was asking me to make some rear footrests so she could go on the trail with me).

If you ever feel like coming up to Rumbai in Sumatra, drop me a line and we can go for a blast around the Sawit plantations and what's left of the rainforest. We do 2 hr loops (60km) on average, but there are hundreds of trails / single tracks through here around the oilfields. Cheers, Richard

Rumbai is up in Pekanbaru if I'm not mistaken? I've been wanting to take a trip up there to check out a tidal bore wave that I saw a video of last year. It looks like the best shaped fresh water wave in the world. If I can put together a trip I'll certainly look you up.
Are you in the palm oil or petrol business? I'm working an Exxon Project in East Java.

Good vid! I like watching other cultures. Much more exciting on a motorcycle. It would be hard to get use to riding on the left side. Man, there are a lot of bikes & motocycles around.

There are probably 100 times as many bikes on the road as there are cars. Mostly because cars cost so much here. The scary thing is: You don't have to take a test (not even an eyesight exam) to get a license. Just pay the money and create havoc...

Nice video and looks and sounds alot like here in the Philippines ...

What tires are you using? About all we can get here are IRCs VE-33s at a good price but they work well in about all cases ...

Yep, that left side driving is a little strange :)

Up- front I've got the original Michelin Enduro comp. Apparently the previous owner changed the rear to a Comet- Never heard of them (probably local) but seems to work fairly well. I've been to the Philipines a few times and it's very similar (except the Philipines is a bit more civilized) hahaha...

I put a china rear tire once ... It just did not hook up, anywhere ... I'm back to the IRC ...

We're civilized here all right ... These guys are paving the providence's dirt roads all over this place ...

I'm thinking of going to an IRC as well. I've had a few in the past and for what you pay they are a good option.

Its a good around tire ... Works well on hard-packed stuff we get here in the dry season ... Costs is OK also ... It just wear out a little quick
