  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Replacing lower shock bearing????

vtskier

Husqvarna
AA Class
Hi guys,

Just purchased an all balls shock bearing for te450 2007. What should I remove to get at the mount. Do I want to get the alloy piece with the two zerk fittings off the bike and on the bench? This means wheel removal, swing arm removal. What else should I be thinking about? Any snags along the way?

Thanks,

Andrew

Remove the whole lot, you will need to check all the other bearings/bushes as well and will probably find some will need doing as well, that's what I have found nearly every time I pull mine apart for maintenance. You will find you can get "most" parts from a large bearing supplier at reasonable prices, the only things that are difficult to find are the bushes, bearings and seals are usually available, and DON"T get cheap Chinese ones, you will regret it.

I understand their is now a substitute for the bearing end of the shock. It is a rubber bushing arrangement. Can't comment on its longevity.
I usually do that bearing twice a year and the rest evry 10 to 12 months dependant on riding conditions

XLEnduroMan posted this right after I replaced all my bearings in the linkage. I will use this bushing next time, especially in the lowest, single one shown..
Have you seen this bushing option? We have their 50mm seal kit in out '08 TE's and they are working great.

Thanks everyone. Will post after procedure with an update. Probably wait until snow flys at this point so I can maximize riding time.
