• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Replacement rear break cleat?

Sheared mine off - the 'pedal' is fine and I drilled out the rivets. I've heard of people using KTM bolt-on replacements, but I really don't want any KTM parts on my bike

Any thoughts?

Thanks - Chad

Just installed this ZipTy one, see below, takes a little project work but comes out real good. I have not used it yet (bike is still in work).

The fix to the OEM pedal is to have the inside of the triangle pedal welded, I have a couple of those is the spares bin. I have sheared 2 and partially sheared 1 (re-welded) and have had 2 new ones welded before installation, between my 06 and 08 450s.

The tip seems to be designed as a sacrificial piece with its light welding, because you can still use the brake with no pedal in a pinch, done that to continue ride. The ones I replaced after welding the tips had the entire brake pedal arm twisted back from catching on rocks (almost DNF issue), I am sure it would have just sheared the tip with the OEM weld job (which is a no DNF issue).

Believe it or not I sheared that thing off in Kennedy meadows probably a year-and-a-half ago and have been using a piece of wood attached to the break pedal via a couple of hose-clamps ever since....

I was greasing all my pivots & bearings last night and figured it was time to replace it with some hardware...

Good Grief! are you on a budget or just riding too much to find time to repair!:D

I sure hope so...

I've only been out twice since I've been back stateside and they've both been solo forays to try and shake the cobwebs loose....

Since then the X & TE have both been in pieces on the garage floor.

I need to get out and put some miles on - my CV is shot

No KTM parts on your bike ? I've got a lower KTM guide instead of the roller, works great. What ever works with less maintenance
