    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Replacement fuel pump 2008 TE450 in Panama City!

Hi all

I am a traveler with an Camper and a 2008 TE450 with me!
Yesterday my fuel pump failed completely ... after a week of backfire and searching the problem!
So I need to get me a new fuel pump!

The problem is - I am in Panama right now!
Shipping the part from US or Europe will take 12 to 14 days and its hard to find a shop who ships to Panama!
I would like to avoid that waiting time .... since I plan to cross over to Colombia soon!

Does anyone know a fuel pump that might fit into the original fuel pump assembly, from another Bike or Car? Like from an Yamaha or Honda .... where I have a better change to find one in Panama???

it's a 30mm diameter pump (standard size for lots of motorcycles snowmobiles quads); cars tend to have the 38mm diameter pump- although this is changing to a cartridge style.

people have made the 38mm work but it's kinda mickey mouse.

you can find either pump on ebay for $4-$400. So, yeah, more than likely ANY 30mm diameter 12v pump for anything will work (inc Honda, Yamaha). BTW, if you buy it at a US auto shop $30-$70; but if you buy it at a mc shop $50-$100. Panama may go cheaper, actually, if not brand specific.

I'd get one with barbs on the pump outlet, to make sure the hose does not come off while riding.

It's happened to me.
 
You can get 38mm fuel pumps at any auto store, ask to look at the supply of small, toyota, etc 1.5 inch diameter (38mm) pumps, try to get one with a flare on the hose-connect outlet. You will have to remove the white 30mm bracket and replace it with a threaded rod to zip tie the larger 38mm pump to. see pic with larger 38mm pump, i unfastened the pump to replace the strainer

If Panama is filled with those Chinese scooters, find a repair shop. Most of them that have a pump use the 30mm diameter one.

I gotta imagine you're going to have to do a lot of "winging it" with mechanical issues when you get to South America.
