  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Removed left swithes, how to get healight on?

Hammer17

Husqvarna
B Class
I removed the left side switches (hi-low beam, horn, blinkers) on an 09 TE310 by unplugging them from the harness behind the headlight. Not surprising the headlight does not come on now. Does anyone know a quick way to maybe create a jumper(which wires do I jump) or some easy way to get the headlight on now? THX

You will want to download the repair manual for your year bike. It will have the connector pinout with color codes.

I am looking at my '06 repair manual which might be the same and see this on the switch side of the harness you removed. You can match it up to the bike side and translate the pin functions. The bike side harness could be differnt colors, don't know.

So for '06:
Horn is Green(G) and Grey(Gr)
Turn is SkyBlue(Sb), Red(R), Blue-Black(B-Bk)
Hi beam White(W)
Lo beam Black(Bk)
Lighting main power is likely White-Blue(W-B) - it is not clear from drawing as it splits into many switches, and Euro has an extra switch, one feed the tail light I think which is Y color.

Your '09 might match up with this. I assume you want it reversible so a jumper between the connector pins would be ideal but not easy if you are not "in the business" of doing this kind of work.

Instead, if you only want low beam on, nothing else (because you took off the turns signals, horn, and maybe tail light also?) then you could cut the wire harness headlamp power wires an inch or 2 on the bike side of the connector and crimp in bullet or 1/4" quick connects of the appropriate genders so you can connect the Bk wire to the W-B wire. When you want to restore to normal, you can unplug this short, and replug them back in line with their own color as before. Hopefully this makes sense.

Legend:
-00- = bullet connectors which are inserted in series with wires

Stock with added bullet connectors
Bk_---00---| Nylon connector
W-B--00---|

unplug and connect W-B to Bk, leave nylon connector side wires free.
Bk_---00---W-B

Your tail light might not work anymore, if so you might need to see note above about the yellow wire and tap into the W-B wire. There are dual bullets and other ways to do this.

Thanks, that is helpful! I believe the colors match up on the 09. I tried jumping w-b but did not add in the Bk, it think that is the part I was missing. I looked at the manual, but it was somewhat confusing with all of the switches. I will give it a try and report back.

Finally got a chance to look at the wiring. I was able to get the headlight to stay on now. I made a jumper connecting the following three wires. Gr/Bk to Wh to Bk.
