• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Mags and factories gave you piles of info on the bike and were all excited about it? What happened to that detail? Mags used to have real detail descriptions and dyno graphs and actually weighed the bikes. Factory fliers touted all the details of engineering and thought behind it. Does no one care or is it just a lost art?

This is how you excite a gear head, what happened?

"neat change in the gear dog angle" REALLY!! wow.

Take a look at just about any of the top line mags from ADB(Aus), MotoCross(Ita), MotoVerte (Fra) or other countries monthly magazines, the level of details in testing and analyzing the machines is way over the level the US Mag Hollywood view of the world.
I am still amazed at articles I've read from MotoCross where they used the GET real time data aqusition setup to test the advantages of scrubbing jumps on lap times (one of the riders was Salvini), and yes lap times were better. Also a data aquisition test of Stefan Merriman doing special tests with various setups. Speed, brakes, gear,TP, were all on the graphs.
"This bike is slow it feels anemic through the gears" etc etc just doesn't cut it anymore IMHO.

PS MotoSportz that's your bullet proof Rotax Motor, man!!

Can-Am, the True Orange bike! Maybe thats why the current orange bikes pick the color, because they knew it had ties to greatness. Sucks for Yamaha imo, they gave up the yellow fight to Suzuki and went blue. Anyway, love your threads Kelly.

I remember on my 370...the only way to get the left engine case off was to undo all the engine mount bolts and lift the engine up. There was one bolt behind the frame gusset you could not get at. I ended up drilling a hole in the gusset to fit a socket. I'm sure it was an over site the first year they made the 370.
