  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Rekluse fit for TE 310

help! Trying to install a z-start pro in a 09 te310

everything was going well until i installed the clutch pack. Instructions say to put in (8) frictions and steels, but there is only (7) in my TE. so i put in the 7, alternating as required. install the plate and its gap is huge, like i am missing a friction and steel.

the only other thing i can think is that my clutch is just so wore out that the gap is large because of that. there is very little (it seems anyway) friction material left. I'd say 0.020" on each side of each friction. Is that super wore?

edit: just found this in the shop manual "Thickness of new plate: 0.118 in. Wear limit: 0.114 in." awaiting a measurement on my frictions.

edit2: frictions measure .120 thick. so that rules out my wore out theory. wtf did i do wrong on this install??

Thanks. really hope to get this thing together this week.

I thought the z-start pro was a no-go on the 250/310? I seem to remember only the regular z-start would work. I could be wrong...

at least 2 people in this thread have used the pro. i think i may have figured it out. will hopefully find out tonight. i didnt install the spacer as the instructions said that was for 06-07 only. looking at the missing thickness though, i think it needs to go in to space the basket and packs up.

Hopefully, you are right!

I'm not.

I dont get it. rekluse is shelved, stock clutch back in until I can figure it out i guess. Instructions say I need 8 frictions. I only have 7. Dont really want to order a new clutch set when my frictions are well within spec. :(

Sorry to hear that. Do you have to order a full set of friction plates? You can't just order a single plate?

from every vendor I've found, yes. and noone can tell me how many frictions are in a replacement set. grrr.

Sceep , have you had any luck with the rekluse fitment ? I have an old worn set sitting in oil that I could send a couple of the discs and plates if you like . I've been wanting to add a rekluse to mine for a while now and not wanting to commit to EFM one . When I contacted Rekluse they told me that a 2006 to 2008 te250 would work but they are no longer manufactured and there was clearance issues . Mine is the same as yours a 2009 te310 . Let me know if you want a couple sent as I'd be more than happy to donate to find out your results . Bob

I was so mad at it I put the old clutch back in and went and beat on it. No reason to take it back apart yet as I believe I need a another clutch friction and steel. I would LOVE to have one of yours if you don't need them so I don't have to buy a whole new pack.

nope. Thank you for the clutches though.

it doesn't work. I don't know how the people in here can honestly say "it drops right in" . it does't. period.

Added the 8th fclutch and now everything sits too high. wont lock into the basket.

the ONLY last thing i can come up with is the 450 basket is taller, so that it holds 8 frictions and still has room for the plate to engage the teeth.

frustrating to drop so much $$$ on parts that many have said would work with a deeper cover, just to find out it doesn't. should have just dropped the $$ on an EFM and been done with it, cheaper.

rekluse for sale if anyone wants it. I'm not even going to waste the $200 on trying to see if i can fit a 450 basket and gear into the 310.

purple haze, do you want me to ship you those clutches back?

Sceep, I've got an EFM that I bought from forum member Darkside for my '09 TE250. I bought a '13 TE310R, so I never installed the EFM.

It came with a deep clutch cover and some spacers, which you probably wouldn't need, because of the cover.

As I never installed it, I can't really tell you much about it, but you can find posts from Darkside about it, which indicate he liked it.

He had it in a 2008 TE250, so it should be compatible with your 2009.

Randy indicated it needs fiber plates, but you can probably just use your plates from your current bike, assuming they're in decent shape.

If you're interested in an EFM, I'd sell it for what I paid for it. $250 US + shipping from Ontario,Canada. It was $32 when he shipped it to me, but I would have to check with Canada Post to see what it would be to ship it to you.

^^^ bought that, put it in. seems to work great. dropped right in in under an hour with no issues.

1st ride tomorrow.

bottom line is the z-start-pro will NOT go into the te310 and the efm was a drop right in. thanks Andrew!
