250-500cc Rebuilding wr250 1990 and pics of my 1991 cr250

Hello to all,

I am rebuilding a WR250 Husqvarna.
just buyed the bike a week ago it is in a good condition but the ignition was not incluided and the forks cracked at the bottom axle clamps also from my CR250.
I have buyed a HPI kit with light for the WR
I would swap the Showa forks from the 1994 WR and CR if this is possible.
Have anyone done this?
The performance of the WP4054 is not verry good and the axle clamps will brake sooner or later wenn you found good ones.
i have 8 forks 4054 all cracked.
What do you guys think of the fork swap to Showa will it be a great improvement and will it fit with the clamps?
When someone has done mods to performa the bike better i would like to now.
The suspension at the rear is ok i think but MX riding with the WP4054 was not verry nice.
Maybe im use to my TC250R 2013 kayaba's but some improvemnents on the suspension would be nice.
I have seen a Showa fork with bolts on it to adjust spring rate and without.
Wich fork will be better for MX or offroad use?

WOW, that CR is amazing
did ou find it in a time capsule?????
the fork swap would require a complete front end, triple clamps down, not sure about the races in the frame might need to swap those too
if you pull the forks to dispose i would be very interested in the left fork guard guide, take everything if necessary, the guides and protectors, mines cracked
i mean the one on the endure that is

the bike looks great! i have often heard the problem with the cracking is the fasteners being over-torqued. not sure abut the 90 but the 91 wrk i have has very different bearings/races than any husky i have encountered..the 88 and earlier/92 and later will swap but it seems in between that are odd size. im parting the 91 and have a nice set of the 4054 forks and triple from the 91 for sale on ebay..no cracks in nice shape. will take less for a cafe huskier!

the 92 is also in that no mans land
i had one and it had bastard bearings for sure

so on that note it just hit me like a ton of bricks
my 92 had Showa's, not bad,,,, need some tuning but they work and don't have the cracking issues

You could buy them in ebay.it all collors about 50 euro complete kit.

I have one set of bottom ends how are not cracked but i believe the aluminium is over 25 years old its is not in best shape anymore.
I will hold the 4054 so i can allways make the bikes Original but i would ride them with better forks in the meantime :-)

on the left fork leg is a guide for the brake line, i am doing a restoration of my 87
all the ones you buy are the wrong color or full wrap around, like your CR

I have to of them but one is cracked and the otherone will i hold together with the fork.

I could ask for a new one here at a dealer.

that would be great, i accidentally broke mine moving it
and i called a few dealers that said keep looking, it will pop up

That 1990 steering stem bearings are a problem like stated above. The good news is that you can press out the steering stem from a newer bike and just switch forks that way, you just need the complete front end. I did this switch with the 45mm showas from a 1993 or 1994 model to a 1990 250 enduro.

are the 92 steering bearings the same as a 90?
if so that would net a newer front forks, and i believe the wheel will swap, they also use the same brakes

Yes i have to press out the stem and press it in the 93 model clambs.
Bougt yesterday two sets of forks.
One showa complete from 1993 cr250 and a wr250 kit with those strange adjusters on the top.

the strange looking adjusters are to set the spring preload or adjust height simply put

Yes the bearings are the same for 90 & 92. I don't think the front brakes are the same but I could be wrong. The front wheel does look the same though.

Frontbrake is Nissin from the 1992- models with 260mm rotor
I have on wr and cr 240mm but i will use the nissin calipers with 260 rotors and brembo brake pumps ;-)
