  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc Rear caliper slide pin part compatiblity?

Dauer

Husqvarna
AA Class
As the title states: I'm in need of some rear caliper slide pins for my '92 WXC 360. Called Halls, they said they were on back order from the factory, not sure if they could get them but if they could it'd be $100 for the pair!
My question is: Are there any board members out there that know if there are other slide bolts that are compatible, perhaps from other makes? I recall reading on here that the 92-94 250/360 models shared the same rear slide bolts with a Japanese made atv but couldn't infer any more info than that. I'm hoping that this board with all it's infinite wisdom may hold the key or pin in this case. Thanks.

You would have yourself a deal had I not just sold it a month ago. I hated to see it go but I had to make room for my TDR, unfortunately I'm not in the position to collect motorcycles at the moment...someday :(. The good news is it was sold to a gentleman from central NC so your chances are getting better and better.

Thanks for providing the link to those part numbers. The parts pictured appear to be pins for the pads, although it does state that it's a stock photo and not the actual product. There also seems to be quite an extensive list of compatible bikes. Perhaps I can get my hands on a parts schematic for one of those and compare the two. Looks like I've got my work cut out for me, but thank you for making it that much easier.

I used to buy some suzuki parts for replacement pins and the boots for the pins. I will see if I still have the info.

On my 07 WR250 it has a Brembo caliper, my 07 Husaberg had the exact same pins, so KTM, Husaberg? I think whatever uses the same caliper.

Thanks. I went to my local bike shop and inquired about guide pins for some bikes that share the same caliper, specifically Yamaha and Kawasaki (they're not a Suzuki dealer), problem is those manufacturers don't sell the caliper guide pins separate of the caliper. I bought some pins and rubber sleeves for a '92 Honda CR250 for $20. The shop said if they don't work I may return them, figure I'll give them a shot. I will report back with my findings.

The smaller, lower guide pin is compatible if not identical, I had to file down the section that threads into the bracket because it interfered with the allen bolts on the rotor. Unfortunately the larger, upper guide pin is incompatible, bearing no resemblance to the original pin. The search continues...

Update: Through the process of cross referencing brake pad compatibility and studying parts schematics it has been confirmed that the caliper slide pins from a '87 Suzuki SP200 front caliper (Suzuki part # 59302-13A01) are compatible with the rear caliper on the '92-'95 (whatever year they changed to brembos) wxc 250/360. Parts arrived in the mail today and are a perfect fit, thought I would share.
