  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc Re-Gearing the 2011 WR 300

got a new wr 300 and i run very tight tricky technical rock and hills, thinkin of stepping up the rear from 48 to 51 teeth, anyone try this? any suggestions?

No, i never had to change even on tight tracks. I think the standard gearing is good, for me anyway. I often start on 2nd gear even in tight woods. Can, t you find a smaller front sprocket instead? Easier to change, cheaper to buy, just to evaluate. you use the same chain too.

I run a 50 in the back for singletrack. I think it is a vast improvement over stock when it gets tight and gnarly. I thought about a 52 at first, but someone suggested the 50, so I gave it a try. I would think a 51 would be great in the gnar

I put a 50 on the rear and swap fronts. Usually 14/50 for woods and 15/50 for dez.
Motor has plenty to pull that extra tooth and the snap rings make it a breeze to swap.

I run 13:52 but I'm going to change to 13:50 or 12:48 which is close to the same. I like having 1st for a trials like bail out gear for really slow steep rocky stuff. I mostly ride in 2nd or above and top speed even with 13:52 is still 70mph according to my stock speedo. BTW mine is a WR250 so it's not quite the same as a 300.

I run 13/50 on my 09 250 it works great in tight or high speed riding.

I just purchased a 49 tooth rear to run with the stock front (11' WR300 and not installed yet) I seemed to be sometimes lugging to much in 3rd or revving to much in 2nd in the tighter trails so I'm looking to find a better medium for each gear in those condition.... I like the stock gearing and could live with it but alittle more snap in 3rd and 4th would help in the woods I think...
