• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

quick not so fast ride on the Beta 300RR

So tell us your opinions.
I like 300 2T bikes, as called by one former ISDE/top US vet competitor guy I know "its a 3 stroke" all the best qualities of a E2 size 4stroke combined into an E3 300cc torque heavy 2 stroke displacement bike, in the same weight package as a 250cc 2 stroke.
I will need some seat time to re-adapt to a 2T bike..( Johns CR300 was an easy transition).......my 2014 choices are now100% I'm going 300cc 2T- I am now at 95% MY13 Beta, 5% WHT MY14 TE300.......that 5% is washing away quickly mostly due to $ of initial cost as well as suspension all ready pro level dialed on the Beta. There you go Cafe crew you heard it here first, Robertaccio=Beta 300RR ( low hour 2013 model w/suspension fresh from the US Ohlins shop in NC and some BYOB kit parts on it as well). For bling I will hit up Jarno and Ivan Boano for a factory Beta Boano world enduro graphics and seat package, just to be even more different.

Smart choice. Great bikes. really liked the 300rr I rode but think I would rather have the 250. In fact I wish Beta would make a 200.

Joined the Club myself... picked up a 13 250 in Modesto last week... still setting it up Jetting /handguards etc... and later a rekluse... Haven't had the first real ride on it yet (Weather around here not cooperating and neither is work)

I feel like I'm cheating on my Husky and the of course the Cafe.... :(

Why was Johns bike an easier transition from a four stroke then the Beta?

LoM,
I did not say easier, I just found that the 300cc bike was an easy transition, Johns is very well dialed as well, you can easily ride a gear high and run at med rpm with great torque and his suspension is world class, really.
Lately I also rode crew member Andy's 2013 300XC-W and found I was instantly comfortable with the motor as well as with Dai's 2011 300XC. I think the 3 stroke is great name for these 300c 2 strokes.

I had a hard time also, had an emotional attachment to the Italian Husky, but we didn't leave them, they left us. Ride the Beta, the guilt starts going away.

Yeah, you talked about all the different brands you might try, but I knew you would stay Italian!

the selling point for me was the electric start that works... not works some time... I just don't see how KTM or GG to a lesser extent couldn't get it fixed by now ...
