  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Questions regarding TC449

Walt Hastings

B Class
Been reading alot about the TE449/511 and all of the apparently required performance modifications, ie: FMF exhaust, ECU upgrade from ZipTy, removal of smog stuff, etc. Are the same modifications required, (to get peak performance) on the TC449 as well?
Also, is the TC449 Green sticker eligible ,(Calif)?? Heard that the TCs used to come with two mufflers...onewith a spark arrestor,( for the trails), and one without, for the MX tracks only...is this still the case?

Thanks,

Walt

I'm not sure if the TC's come with both exhausts. It runs great out of the box though. The TE's are only like that because of street legal policies.

TC 449 is a red sticker bike. It came with the Akrapovic (Spelling?) exhaust, but it does have a spark arrester. I ride the track, no racing. Mine is stock and I think the bike rides great. Just suspension mods done.

Stick with a TE...same motor, same mods apply, and best of all...it's plated. We have too many good USFS roads in our area you couldn't enjoy even with a Green sticky.

I agree with the TE for access, however the TC engine has different ECU, pipe, transmission (5spd), and cams so they run quite a bit stronger out of the box.

But if you want access then start with a TE511 and apply Map set #3, open pipe up and .....you should be happy.
