  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Questions on OEM 450/510 muffler

Does the 2008 OEM TE510 muffler have the cat thing built into the muffler?

Has anyone seen a schematic of the OEM Husky muffler for 450/510s, kinda like this one?

If you have gutted a single TE muffler, is this what is looks like inside?

Can I remove just the endcap without disturbing the packing, AND be able to get it back inside without everything getting out of alignment?

Probably telling you something you already know but I think the cat in the pre-2011 huskys was an insert in the midpipe, not the silencer. At least that's the deal for the 09-10 310-450-510's

I think that the '09 and '10 models had the removeable cat in the midpipe, and the '08 had the cat built into the muffler, I just bought an OEM '08 muffler and didn't realize that the cat was inside the muffler.

Fair enough, toss it if you can get to it. I know some people in Australia use a broom handle on their cars cat by pretty much ramming it up the pipe and destroying the cat material.. primative I know.

I have been operating with this understanding:
The 2008 stock OEM has a cat inside the exhaust muffler- it is also welded at least my buddy's is.
The 2008 Arrow Power Up, does not but I don't know that it is identical to the 09/10.
The 2008 exhaust has reportedly failed to fit the 09/10 midpipe and mounting points to to a slight variance in bend.
The 09/10 xhaust has a removable cat in the midpipe.
