• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Question regarding Husky 250 GP MAG

Walt Hastings

Husqvarna
B Class
My brother had one of these in 1974-1975. He thinks it was a 1975 model. I have been told by a friend that they only made this model one year, in 1974. Any experts out there that can clarify this?

Thanks,
Walt

Always thought the Mag was a 74 year only. Also don't believe the original Mag motor had a radial head. Could be a 75 GP head on the one in your picture. Or the bike itself could be a 75 like he thinks.
Either way, she's a beauty!

Hi Walt, Your brother has a 1975 with a ML frame. The original Mag250 was a 1974 with a MK frame, it had some unique features in 1974 & it's the last vintage MX model that is legal. The 1975 & on are Post Vintage legal. The 1974 model didn't have a radial head & was Husky's first motor with a reed valve. It can also be identified with the first 4 numbers on the motor being 2033 & a 5 speed transmission. AHRMA allows the 75 & later motors which have a 6 speed are allowed as most of the parts are identical. Hope you didn't loose any money.

"Mag" comes from the first year magnesium motor, the cases are essentially identical through '77... the frames as mentioned above vary. I ran a '74 modded motor in my '77

That black and white picture makes me feel young, wood crate for stand.
Nice bike, also they used plastic fenders
