  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

PSA: UFO plastics white is brighter than OEM white

Since I've been going stir crazy waiting on my wheels to arrive I've been messing with different looks colors, and graphics.

UFO finally got white plastics back in stock so I picked up a set of side panels. My front fender is a brand new OEM SMR fender, and the rear is also brand new OEM.

For most this won't matter in the slightest because once you get it dirty it'll never be the same again anyway. But since mine is going the street Supermoto route and I'm slightly OCD when it comes to stuff like this I thought it was worth mentioning to the group.

Anyway, the UFO plastics fit great but are just the slightest shade brighter white than the OEM plastics.

Can't really tell in the pic but it is obvious in person. Would anyone care? Only me or you if it was your bike and you are weird like me.

Also FWIW, I thought that the OEM sticker kit was printed on a white back ground but it's actually on a clear background. So you could this sticker kit on red plastics too if you wanted, and at about $20 that's about as cheap a sticker kit as you're going to find. It wouldn't pop like the white letters on the red background but still would look good I think. Just remember since it is on a clear background any bubbles or mistakes you make will show up. I took my time 20-30 minutes per side with the aid of a hair dryer and got it pretty good, not perfect but good.

Next thing is white or red? If I stay white I think I'll have to change the handguards to either black or white. It's not a big deal as I need some on my CR144 and so the red ones certainly wouldn't be going to waste.

Haha, I've had access to most everything when I had the valve cover off to install the ZipTy recirculation kit. So I took advantage. There is still some mud stuck on the back part of the engine that I can't quite get to. Guess I could break out an old tooth brush and see what I can do.
