  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Pros and Cons of the 2006 TE450

A buddy of mine has been presented with a "deal" on a 2006 TE450. It is new...only ridden once. Seriously...

Owner rode it one time, was in a automobile accident the following week and hasn't been able to return to the bike. Decided he was never gonna ride again and wants to sell the bike.

My buddy can get it for $ 2200.

I don't see how he can lose out on this deal. Even if he doesn't like it, he should be able to get his $2200 back out of it...

What say you? Is this bike any good? Is there known issues that would make this deal one to avoid?

Should be a great bike. Very much like my 07 model, but with better radiators. Not sure if it has the smaller forks or not, but they were all good.

I know of an 04, 06 and 07 450 TE's that take a lickin' and keep on ticking.. They are well appointed right out of the box.. There are a few minor things you will want to do to it as it breaks in, but nothing major.
Great bikes. Buy it !

That is a *seriously* great bike. No fuel pump/efi... lasts forever, easy to work on... and unlike some other brands of that vintage, the valves last forever.

Give me the info and I'll buy it! Geezo, snap, snap, snap it up! By the way, was the TE plated in 06? That is even a bigger +

Great bike as well as larger forks it had an upgraded clutch.
I had mine new for 3 years, never had a mechanical.
I think it is an easy bike to own and run. simple bullet proof engine with heaps of grunt.
Forks and shock will need a heavier spring if the owner is on the more "full figured" side.
Only ever replaced consumables.

Based on the learned response from Cafe Husky...he bought it. Thanks to all for the responses...If he hates it, I'll let you guys know and somebody can snap it up cheap.

I would buy it also in a heart beat. I love my '09 but my '05 never missed a beat, I have had issues with the FI electronics, a "new" 06, I want it.

i had one and it was a strong bike , handled great , plenty of hp and was platable.
i think i would buy another if it was in the condition listed.
enjoy!
