  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc "proper clutch cable"

Just got a "new" to me 2008 WR250. What do they mean when they say to get a "proper clutch cable"? Does this need done to the 08's? Thanks
any other WR250 hints wanted.

Motion pro sells a nice replacement cable that most people use BUT I take it a little farther I get my motion Pro cable made 3 inches shorter and run it up the left side of the bike instead of the stock way Shorter cable makes it a little easier

Where do I find a Terminator cable for my 07' wr 250? Checked ebay and only found for older models.

Cheers

Order it 3 inches shorter then stock and it works even better Why run it up the left side out front of the frame over to the right side then over to the left side again I run up the left side over the motor then to the lever 3 inches shorter and that much less cabel to pull

Stupid question. Are all the Motion Pro cables "Terminator"? I have a brand new clutch cable at home which needs to be installed on my 02, but the packaging doesn't say terminator on it.

The housing of a terminator cable is longitudinally wound. This a similar feature to newer BMX brake and road bike shifter cables. Instead of a coiled wire inside the housing, it runs lengthwise. Minimal flex in the housing under tension (when you pull your lever) means more feel less slop, etc.

I'm just putting my 250/300 back into my 2012 frame and had one of the terminator cables waiting for me to install. that paired with a "extra" mod I made since I had the parts laying around and everything seemed to fit made it a ridiculous easy pull. When you pull in the cluthc stock, you'll notice the cable moves all around due to the housing flexing. The terminator doesn't do that.

The extra mod I did was, since I have a box of 360 extras laying around, the clutch actuator arm for the 360 (at least on the year of this piece) is about 1/4" to 3/8" longer (guessing) with the same shaft and actuator position. So I installed that into the 6 speed 250 I was putting together and it is seriously buttery. I can't wait to get the bike all back together tomorrow and test ride it Sunday.

I have not done the actuator mod on my 08' WR250. Bought a MP Terminator 10-0154 and it seems a few inches too long. Have adjusters backed out on both ends, still too long. What gives? Reg lever with quick adjust, and the cable routing is as per oem.

I purchased the Motion Pro Terminator clutch cable (10-0154) for my 08 WR250 and tried to install it. The cable is about 3" too short and the housing end won't fit into the provision for holding the end of the cable on the engine case. Is it possible that I received the incorrect cable, or do I have to modify something to make it work?

Sounds like something is wrong. I know motion pro is currently out of stock until June 3rd, so I wonder what you may have got.
