  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Problems

What's an 'issue'?

Ive had to adjust suspension on them all (as I did on my Hondas, etc.)
But Ive never had a Husky fail to start or fail to finish. Maintenance has been normal for performance bikes as far as I am concerned. My CRF450 Hondas that I rode before switching to Husky, on the other hand were horrible to start and wore me out in a 90 minute race....not broke, but sure didnt work very well.

That said, JD Tuner made my 449/511s run better, mapping made my 310 run better, different carbs/jetting made 300 and 250 run better.....and aint none of them meant to be TTR/DRZs. They are race bikes with or without lights.

I've had no issues to date on my '12 TXC310. About 10 hrs on it I think, CV4 hour meter quit working. So far love this bike......

Just getting input from owners , I see alot of negative stuff posted as I look thru posts , hoping I don't have any major issues. , Thanks for your input , the people this forum are awesome , really lucked out when I found it.

I agree...I have had my share of problems with my CRFs and KTM and given I have only had this bike I week after feeling the same and questioning the decision when I first purchased it I find myself falling more and more in love w the bike. After a whole week of riding I decided to jump back in my CRF and it felt awful.

Other than replacing bearings in the linkage I haven't had any trouble with mine (knock on wood). Check those bearings! Mine had almost zero grease in them.

The majority of things posted on the internet are negative. Don't let it shape the way you see your bike.

So True. First time I came on this site it scared the hell out of me. Just for reference I looked at other brand specific sites and they're all full of horror stories. One post I've never seen on this site is: "My bike handles like crap"!
I've seen alot of that on one site (no need to mention which one)...

Most of the stuff I've done to my 310 other than gearing, ECU, and injector have been just for fun. Frankly, for the former, not sure what you could expect more from a street-legal bike to get it to run like the race bike it was designed to be.

I bought it as a race bike that was street legal from the factory and have treated it accordingly with no "major issues" in 2000 miles so far.

When I picked mine up, the dealer drilled out the linkage block and fitted grease nipples as part of his sales pitch. No more than a half hour job with a drill - the nipples are a taper thread so no need to tap.

Spoke to a guy the other day at a track who had a 2013 250 orange type bike, it had spent more time back at the dealers than he'd had it at home! He said he wouldn't buy another one.
If people have bad experiences, they are more likely to write about it rather than just randomly saying that they like their bike.

I just seen on another forum a guy having multiple issues with his orange 350. Those things aren't cheap.

I'm thinking of pulling mine apart for a thorough greasing this winter. Has anyone else fitted Zerks to their linkage? If so, any tips, advice, or pics would be appreciated.

Interesting question. Yes, if you search this forum or any other bike specific form, the majority of posts will be in regard to problem solving or recommended modifications. If we all just raved about how awesome our bikes were there wouldn't really be any purpose to these forms.

Btw. My 2012 te511 is a beast and only been to the dealer once since I got it to fix a small TPS issue. He also showed me how to fix it myself in the future just incase.

mine has nipples on linkage already and its these i want to pack up with grease,no one has actually solved my question yet,the grease guns on e bay all look like there same size, dont the gun have to be same size as nipple or the grease isnt going to force through the nipple is it?i just dont want to buy a gun and find its useless for my bike, can anyone recommend the right make /size etc grease gun for husky cr125 linkage.
All zerk grease fittings are a standard size. Go to any hardware or Auto parts store etc. and you can get a decent grease gun for not much cash. I suggest one with a pistol grip & flex hose.

Thread I did on adding zerks:

Read whole thread for both shock pivot and swingarm pivot bolt.
