• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Pretty Dang Happy....

.....with this 630 and how she runs

Buddy of mine just picked up an '08 Ape 550 SXV bone stock and we went out for a little Rip to celebrate - Well, I thought for sure I would be chasing his tail lights but was pleasantly surprised - He is a better rider (and racer) than I and we have gone against each other on the track and street for a while now - Dead stops, rolls, 1st Gear, 2nd gear, all were side by side and never lost each other - Granted, I have all the go fast bits on my 630 (still breaking in tho and have yet to do my AirBox screen) and his Ape is stock but I was VERY happy with how the 630 hung in

My riding buddy has the ktm 690 .We have done all the same mods to our bikes. The ktm is just a touch quicker than 630 when we ride but ..50cc's bigger and I weigh prob 40lbs more than him . We both agree and are impressed with how well the 630 runs and if things where equal in displacmnt/weight ....it would be a dead heat .

The 630 holds it's own for sure !

Six months to a year ago, and prior to Power Up, the 630 was generally considered a lame duck and a piss poor replacement for the 610 on this and other forums.

It is good to see that perception being publicly set right.
It is also good to know that what we ride can run with the best out there

I came into my 630 from a 160 hp ZX-10R and I don't have any complaints about the power of my 630. It is the most fun I have ever had on a bike.

It has, however, had more nagging problems and been more maintenance intensive than any bike I have ever owned. I'm still keeping it!

I think, unless you are on a DRZ, this is SOP for most Tards as their motors are pretty high strung in general - I do hear what you are sayin tho - Hell, my HORN BOLT somehow disappeared and the damn thing was just up there flapping around - Even my rattle box Harley has never loosened a horn bolt - Also found some weird brown liquid on the part of the fender behind the forks - I am beginning to think my bike does not favor the mono

Also, forgot to thank this lot for the tip on the wires that run close to the exhaust - Zip tied those bastids yesterday too - Who designed THAT wire placement?

Got the AirBox Screens in today and pulled the Spark Arrestors - Def has a lot more umph down low and just pulls all the way through now - Was not lacking before but the motor is fully alive and breathing well now

God bless this damn Auto Tune - I'll get the AirBox Pic up later

***Edit***

These are the screens I bought for the Air Box Cover - 1 Inch Drill on the back side of the cover tween the old snorkel guides, pop in from front with a little Pro-Taper Grip Glue and PRESTO

Some of us have done this to the airbox:

Lets air in, keeps water out. Just don't go spraying it with a jet of water.

Dig it for sure

Here is my finished Product - Never mind the smudges on the cover - Got rained on a bit as I was rolling home yesterday and Yes, I know, I need to swap my rear fluid......

I think that depends on where you've routed your fuel tank vent line, and if it does or does not have on it a one way valve. Mine does not, and my vent hose is routed down the hollow of the steering head. I think what's happening is that fuel, esp on a full tank, sloshes out and down the hose and what you're seeing on the back of the fender is gas mixed w/ grease.

Interesting and makes sense - Thx mate - As for where the Vent Line is, that would be where ever the Factory put it as I have not touched anything in that regards

Please explain you method! I was thinking the same thing for the 610, but couldn't find the rubber grommets.

Listed in this thread amigo - 1 Inch drill bit - Drill from the backside of the cover inbetween the snorkel (which was removed upon power up) guides - Once the holes are drilled, line the little ring around the top of each of the (6) filters that come with the kit with Pro Taper Grip Glue (what I used, any super glue would work) and then pop these in - They are a tad larger than the 1 inch hole but fit in perfectly - The glue around the top ring of the filter insures they stay in place - Enlarge the pic of the filters in the provided link and you will see the "rim" that with the glue holds them in place

Let them dry for (15) mins (or whatever the glue stipulates) and rip on said bike

I love my 630 too but had to chime in.

In order I've owned.
Husky 610
Aprilia SXV 550
KTM 690 Duke
Husky 630 SMS

All had exhaust and intakes done and were dyno tuned.
The Husky 630 is my favorite so far.

But a good running SXV 550 will club any of them by a long shot.
That is one seriously fast bike. And all the drawbacks that come with it.

Yeah, I was surprised that my 630 hung in like it did - Like I said, his 550 is bone stock and mine is all dialed in - Were out again last night and now with my Spark Arrestors out (not sure if that even does anything) and my airbox opened up a bit, the bike is running STRONG and hangs in right there with the bone stock 550

Would you care to iluminate on the drawbacks of the SXV550 please :)

I looked into them before I picked up my 630 and from what I could tell and heard:

- Race Bike w/Lights - Designed for the track
- Highly Maint Intensive
- Ducati Type Parts Prices

As stated, I do not own one but have ridden a few - That 5.5 Rear will grip and lift that front like you would not believe - it felt like my 450smr Track Bike (Tight Susp) but with about 2x more power - Sits pretty tall too - taller than the 630 (from what i remember) - I was VERY close but the Maint Schedule was a deterrent for me

Sounds like a very nice-to-have, I must say.

I have yet to outgrow the capabilities of the 630's and 510 that I have.

The Huskies may not be the fastest or the flashiest, but what they give up to the KTM's and Ape's, they more than make up for in other important areas.

For me, the 630 (now that it is dialed in) is 100% spot on - Flickable, Fast, Powerful and the chick loves running errands around town on the back - When she is happy, my life is certainly easier

Only bike I could think to match this would be the 690SMC and for me previously owning a 690sm "Beeker" I could not be happier with the 630

She took some work to get 'er set up and I am happy that the guy who owned it before me did all the mods to make it run right - I ran the #s and home boy dropped some coin into it and I reaped that benefit - It is comforting to know the motor is well tuned and breaths correctly to run like it should
