• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Preston Petty Products are back in stock!

Great news.
This reminds me of a question I keep meaning to ask ....
The new sealed beam units (bulb) are 12 volt. What about the bikes that run 6 volts ?
I am tempted to buy a new headlamp unit, but would need to source a 6 volt "bulb".
Seem to remember that they were fitted to the old Ford tractors too, were these 6 volt ?

Try looking at the Hella website, they have a lot of tractor sealed beams

Other options is to look on ebay for a custom or Harley type 4 & 1/2 " light insert that uses a bulb and then you can select 6 or 12 volt.

one that comes to mind is http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/produ...e=&catId=&productId=pH22081&leafCatId=&mmyId=

I have one of these an i think it does fit the old PP headlight but not the one with the vented plate. i would have to check to be sure if you were interested in getting one. You can also get them with a more old style glass lens, but the clear with diamond cut reflector is obvoiusly better.

Just get looking on ebay, theres heaps out there.

Tanks 250Z,
I will go searching in the shed for an old PP front light unit. The one I have is fairly shot and 12v.
Funnily enough I still have a NOS PP front light unit with the vented number board. Not that I like the look of it !

I did think about that, but it would make riding off road at night just that little bit more interesting ! 6 volts is bad enough, but a 12v bulb would be glow worm technology.
Just need to sort the wiring out before I get carried away.
If there are any Husky electrical experts out there, please see my other post about wiring and joining the white and yellow wires together.
