  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Husqvarna
AA Class
Hi guys,
I'm new to the forum and to 4 stroke Husqvarnas (old 2 smoke guy from the 70's). Just bought a slightly used 2011 TE449 with less than 200 miles on it and completely stock with the HUGE muffler with cat converter. I've been riding a KTM 400 EXC with tons of power and the new Husky feels sick (not in a good way).
Suggestions definitely appreciated.
Thx,
Mark

Welcome :)

Hopefully someone will answer your questions soon.

I deleted the other similar thread you started in Dealer kudos.

Thanks, got to get used to the new forum!!
A little info on the riding I do.
I do 80% dirt 20% pavement but also the occasional hare scramble in the OLD guy class. I'm not looking to create a full bore "race bike", but I do want a little excitement when I twist the throttle!

Get the power up plug in to run in race map 2 and change out the muffler is a good place to start. Enjoy the new toy.

Sweet, I had a '73 Husky:thumbsup: Powerup plug, FMF or similar silencer, JD tuner/Powercommander, tires. Browse the readings here, that new Husky is going to destroy that pumpkin. :D

And if you have a 2011 the get the 2012 top airbox(the part you remove when cleaning filter ) but only if you have JD tune or power commander as you will get heaps more air!

Thanks for the suggestions guys........can't wait to dig into it.
The "power up plug in", is that something I can purchase from a dealer and plug in somewhere on the bike? where?
FMF Powercore slipon muffler the way to go? Use the stock headpipe?
Should I remove and plug O2 sensor?
Sorry to sound dumb but this is all new to me. The KTM was pretty straightforward. haha :banghead:
If there is already a thread that addresses this please point me to it.

Power up plug comes with the bike, goes in under the seat, just forward of where you sit. It a jumper about the size of a small USB flash drive.
Most remove the O2 sensor, along with the Cat/Muffler
It will run fine with a freer breathing muffler and the stock headpipe. I use the factory Akro on both my TXCs. The FMF seems to be the best aftermarket choice.
And the JD Tuning X6 box will make a world of difference in both throttle response (takes out the lean spots), and overall power.

Thanks for the info. Got a FMF powercore ordered and found the power up plug. Gonna remove and plug the O2. I'll see how much difference these things make then decide about the JD X6.

Has anyone tried this?

I've got almost 1000 miles on mine and it's been pretty darned solid. It seems to get better with the miles. Even with the stock pipe no JD and only the Race Map II running, I still find myself being surprised by the way it will pull 100 ft power wheelies out of corners. I know my air filter is overdue for a service by about 500 miles so I guess my next upgrade is only a filter clean away....welcome to the tribe!

Hey toolguy1, where did u find the power up plug ? I just purchased a 2013 te449 and it was not included in my package. What does it look like ? Can u post a pic ? Thanks

+1:thumbsup: Single best performance upgrade for the money IMO. With the JD Tuner and the FMF + the power-up plug to enable Map II, you will see a noticeable difference.

Hey toolguy1, where did u find the power up plug ?
It was in a box of stuff the guy gave me when I bought it, he had never used it apparently. I think the "power up plug" is supposed to come included with a new purchase.
