    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Just put the PU kit on my 08 -TE-510. Took it for a ride on a cold night last night (about 35 deg F) The bike stalled a lot when decelerating.

Have never had the ECU "updated"

What should be next steps

It stalled when braking or just from rolling off the gas?

If the former, check for the slipping fuel pump problem. If it stalls from just rolling off the gas, how many miles are on it? Finish break-in if very low miles, then worry if it still does it. Otherwise, hopefully someone else can suggest something. Send VIN to Coffee so he can tell you which version ECU your bike has?
 
On the short ride in the cold last night it stalled at least 5 times on a 5-10 mile ride when decelerating/closed throttle. I sent Coffere my VIN.

If it runs like this all the time, will have to hook up the O2 sensor.

Appreciate any help as it is warming up in michigan.
 
Everything I've read indicates that you need to setup your ECU with iBeat after installing the PU kit.
 
  1. I would contact Halls and (probably) send them the ecu for an update
  2. I would get access to iBeat
  3. I would get a PC V & Autotune - possibly far more important than iBeat based on my experiments.

I would do #1 regardless. Seriously. Even if you plan on simply putting the O2 sensor back in.
 
Did you have ethynol fuel in your tank all winter for storage?

Did you run it this spring before switching to the power up kit and did it run well?

What rpm do you have the engine idling at?
 
The O2 sensor thread is M18x1.5.
You should be able to find a plug at an performance automotive store. It will probably made of steel, so coat the threads with anti-seize to keep it from getting rusted and then stuck.

The bike is probably running very rich unless you adjust the FB1 value. After riding for awhile, look at the O2 sensor plug to see if it has a heavy coating of carbon. The ECU needs the O2 sensor installed and operating to make adjustments to FB1. Once the adjustment is made the O2 sensor can be removed.
 
Problem Solved

Chalk this one up to operator error:

1. Fuel was low after sittng all winter:
A. Took gas tank off and found two problems.
1a. Fuel pump had slid out of position. Used Zip Tie lengthwise to
secure. I hear this can exacerbate a low fuel condition when it
comes looose
1b. The orange wire on the fuel level indicator broke off where
soldered to the level sensor.

Long story short, did not know I was low on fuel and during decel all the fuel rushed to the front of the tank.
