  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Possible 2010 TE450 Purchase

I have been reading your threads and I am impressed with the mods. I am currently looking at a 2012 TE450 with a power up kit that has not been installed for $4,500. I have no clue whats in the power up kit. The bike has 11 hours and 215 miles and is like new. I will be coming off of a CRF250L but I just need more power in the dirt. I have also entertained a KTM 350 EXC-f but the price difference is huge. I just wanted to get another opinion on the Husky before I pulled the trigger. There are no dealers in the state of Louisiana, but I tend to do all the mechanical stuff myself anyway.

I know there have been some recent changes the BMW and parts are a concern. I ride 75% dirt and 25% street with a maximum of 40 miles.

Is this a good price for the Husky and will it do OK on the pavement?

Thanks

$4500 is an OK price, for a 2010 (you typed 2012 in the body of your post). 215 miles means it's barely broken in, the engine will still be somewhat "tight".

Post a pic of the left side of the bike and we can see what muffler you have.

You can buy the OEM computer tuner for the Husky OR you can buy an after-market tuner OR buy both if you have the money.

Well there's about a 30 HP difference between CRF250L and TE450 powered up... think that will account for more power in the dirt

Great bikes, but it's always nice to have dealer support nearby
