  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

All 2st Port Fuel Injection Kit

This looks interesting, we can retrofit a port fuel injection kit to our 2-strokes. http://highgaintuning.blogspot.com/

Here is an interesting article on this new product http://www.leovinceusa.com/main/news/20110909-injection.php

It explains the shortcomings of the existing DiTech/Direct Injection systems and why this new product offers better performance and tune-ability. Just need to know how much it is going to cost.
I'd like to see a 2t dirt bike conversion on you tube or something similair. Conceptiously coll though.

^^^ approx $1300 and it will need a battery.... plus, they haven't done anything off road from what I understand.

HIGHGAIN Tuning will be coming out very soon with an off road kit for the WR's. Here's the email I got from them this morning.

Hello Steve

I will have a lot of product available hopefully early next week on my web site.
No, for performance purposes we do not use an O2 sensor as it would be ignored most of the time as our racers run mostly WOT.
Cost for the complete kit for that size engine will be around $1300

Where's Walt? Hey maybe we have a winter project? Its just a matter of time before everything is converted over to something like this.

I would love to convert my 144 to a reliable SM144(a little local around town menace) with one of these systems. It is very interesting and the on the fly tuning would be nice.

Darin,

With all the other irons in the fire for this winter, I think I will let someone else be the guinea pig on this one. Granted if it handled all the elevation changes that we ride through here then it would probably work anywhere.

They can keep their EFI and I will keep my carb.

I'll second that, I would take quite a bit of convincing that efi on a 2 stroke dirt bike would be worth the extra cost/complexity/reliability etc that it would be worthwhile. I dont see an ecu liking the vibes from my 300 very much.
