• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Please welcome the newest member of the staff: Lawrence!!!

I've been searching for Lawrence for a long long time - years. Mere words cannot describe how great his addition is no matter how many smilies I put in. He is someone that is warm, caring, compassionate, enthusiastic, and trustworthy at the highest level. I trust him implicitly.

He will be the hard core forum software person that will be attending to the long term server issues. While I doubt any of you will notice any changes, his presence will save me a *huge* amount of my time. I will sleep much better at night knowing someone that knows what they are doing is taking care of certain things that I know little about, no matter how much I try to understand them.

He is not affiliated with the motorcycle industry in any way. Not Husqvarna, nor any other manufacturer. But he knows much about forum software and servers.

But let's get to the most important part - he lives in Nova Scotia, used to own motorcycles and ride, but does not currently own bike, although it sounds like he would not mind riding one. Me thinks he could be talked into getting another one. :)

I am extremely excited and this is truly a great day for us.

Welcome Lawrence!

For the record, he will not have access to the Husqvarna Corporate feedback, Coffee Talk, Motosportz Talk. Those will continue to be setup as they were.

And he already made a change to speed up the site! At least it is faster on my computer

Welcome to CafeHusky, Lawrence!

It's great to have you on board. Now maybe Dean can go riding every now and again :D

And if Dean is happy, then I'm happy
