• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Husqvarna
Hi there im new to all this, just finished restoring a 1983 husqvarna cr500 taken it out on the trak once and broke the casing. Hoping someone knows where i can get one, or if anyone has one laying about.
Thanks Sean.

This is a common problem. I assume that it broke at the Kickstart when You were Starting it. The Holes are Machined threw the Magnisium and are not lined and as they wear the Kickstarter gets loose. The later Bikes had the Holes lined with a Bushing and an extra Bolt to the Main Cases next to the Kickstart Hole. I have seen good ones sell for $30-$150 on e-bay and they are some times for sale here as well. A reproduction Case is also avalable it got a bad rap as there were some fitting issues at the begining. I have one and havn't had the issues of others. Its a good replacement for a Bike to be ridden but not a true one for a restoration. Its modeled after a later Cover and is Aluminum not Magnisium and much Heavier duty. DC Plastics can supply them. If You jump over the the For Sale forum in Vintage You might find an oringinal one and or a lead on one. They are generaly refered to a Clutch Covers.

Thankyou very much 1982 xc 430, great help may try for both i think, as i do want to ride it a little. Thanks again
