  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

oversized tank

I still want a larger tank on my bike. I also want to use the stock shrouds. I wonder if any of the other model bike tanks will fit on my 09 txc250? I just wonder why Husky uses such a small tank on the bikes.

The only oversize tank available is the 3.1 gallon IMS tank. Many have modded their shrouds to adhere to the tank with varied results.

Hey Wadman,

I put one of these IMS tanks on my 09 TE 510 and it has worked out awesome. Much better range (I even wish they made it a bit bigger, like stepped it up more like the Clarke tanks). I don't feel any extra weight or anything and it is such good peace of mind to be able to get 175 kms before fuel light comes on, then get another 25-35 kms on reserve...

I ground my stock shrouds so they line up with the stock mounting bolts and tuck perfectly under the new IMS tank so yeah, this all works fine.

Also, I've heard you can mod your stock tank shrouds and bond them to the IMS tank, but I'm trying something slightly different and having a graphic guy do up stock graphics that look like the stock tank shrouds but lay right on the side of the IMS tank, and actually transfer right down onto my rad shrouds too. It should tie in super nice if it works. I'll know in a week or so.

ANd if it does, I'll figure out how to attach photos and share around contact information of this guy so anyone else with an IMS tank can get some nice red-white graphics kit if they want.

Cheers Pete SS

Our bikes with the IMS tanks. We had high quality decals made for the bike closer in the photo. Breathing holes punched in the decal to help them stay Better. Three months later the have turned yellow and are blistered and almost melted in places. A wast of money for us but by no means the fault of where we got the decals. I think the best bet is the shroud mod & we will be doing that over the winter.

I have a black IMS 15Lt tank on my 2t. Standard tank shrouds and Rad shrouds.
the "white" or "clear" plastic always turns yellow and looks terrible after a while.

As far as I know it is a "universal" 2T / 4T tank.

In my opinion the black looks so much better.
