As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
My 300 came with regular MX-style number plates installed and the light kit (with the light number plate) in a box.john01;38381 said:Thanks so you must get two front number plates?
I totally agree with PC about the WR serving as a good "old man's" MX bike. I'm 48 and I noodle around the MX practice tracks trying to keep from being lapped by my son. The WR will do intermediate MX stuff well. In fact, Cody likes to ride it on the track from time to time just to try something different. My opinion is: if you're an "A" 40+ MX rider, you could probably make the WR competitive with B riders and some lesser skilled A riders. If you're out to have fun putzing around the MX track just to see if you can still clear a double or land a moderate table top without killing yourself (like me)... The WR is by far the best choice since you can use it to chug trails when decide the MX tracks have beaten your a$$ sufficiently for one day (like me).PC.;38584 said:Sure it would work. In fact, if you're just out to goof around and not race competitively then you might actually like a WR better on the track. It has a much more useful powerband and wont tire you out so much. The suspension might need some work, but that's easily remedied with $$
I've never had my 300 at the track, but I've jumped it quite a bit out in the trails and its a very stable bike in the air. Doesn't do anything awkward and feels very controlled. It would make a completely capable MX'er assuming you weren't after trophy's in the 450 class.
If you were closer I'd take a look at your Honda and let you ride the WR and YZ on a track. If you're ever in Portland.......
