  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

So....I finally got take the 125 on a few more rocky routes, where it performed better (I imagine, anyway) than probably any other unmodified modern 125 on the market. The only things that have been done to it is springs and revalving for my weight and type of riding, and a rear sprocket with two more teeth than the stock one.

I'm out of shape and out of practice for riding in the rocks (so if it looks like I am having a bit of trouble, that's because I am), so the Fleahoney and I have not hit any of the really hardcore stuff. I will add the disclaimer that inclines are steeper than the GoPro makes them appear in this video of mixed MC and 4x4 routes.

I keep telling you to try a 12/52 and if you really want control in the rocks put a Golden Fatty up front and a Golden sticky out back
The rear tire is really a waste as it only last about 75 maybe a 100 miles But it is so much fun

Everybody rags on the stock tires, but I think they hold pretty well on the rocks. I run mine until they are dead.:p

OK I just watched the Video I told you 52 would help but for what you are riding the 12/52 would make you feel super human
I never would have though it would work but it really does It only takes a few minutes to change You do not need to change the chain
Here is one more thing to think about the weakest gear in the trans is first. You use it a lot go 12/52 and ride in 3rd and save the ware on the trans. I have both a 125 and a 165 if I am not racing just out for a ride I leave the 12 on It is that much fun in the tight

If I don't every 3rd day or so, I lose whatever edge I might have had for riding the bike and it'll take about a day to get back to my comfort \ speed level ...

Your riding looks good ...just be-careful about closing the throttle
