• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Old School!

Cool helmet.

Later,

This is why I have stopped taking race photos for the most part. I also used Smugmug hosting. It's just too easy for people to steal the photos. I have over $5K in digital camera equipment, photography and race experience, spend an entire day taking photos, travel expenses, etc.

And people steal the photos, instead of spending $3 - $10 bucks for a picture. We sure are not getting rich, but it's nice to cover our expenses. When no photog shows up and you're stuck with the girlfriend taking camera phone pictures, so be it.

I was actually looking for the link you had to your photos because I was gonna buy one of them for a friend of mine as a gift. Using somebody else s photos without their permission = stealing in my book... It would be like me asking Kelly to see one of his products he makes,,take a couple quick measurements and take a couple pics of it,,,then go and make my own that looks exactly like his,but not with his company name on it,,,,that wouldn't be a very nice thing to do would it,,,so next time any of you guys/gals thinks about taking/using somebody else s pic,,at least check to make sure you are allowed to first... for Norman for leaving the pic and saying it was copyrighted,,,shame on the others for just :devil:stealing:devil: somebody else s work...

Guys, very sorry if i upset anyone. I am NOT advocating stealing anything. the method i use it low res and would make terrible print but is good for quick images on the net. I'll edit / remove my offending post and once again say sorry for upsetting anyone.

for the record i know several professional photographers, one an avid husky enthusiast you guys probably have seen pix from on TT (Dave), i would never attempt to steal anything.

Additionally I almost always buy photos at races I attend, have some great ones.

Bottom line is there are so many people with great cameras walking around and shooting pix for fun that turn out great (Jakes god gobs of great pix) it must be a ridiculously hard biz to survive in.

Kelly

Sorry to take this thread off track, but I'm just sensitive about it. I did not take these photos. I think the proper etiquette would be to ask permission of the photographer to post a copy to an internet forum. I think most photogs would approve a low resolution, because it can act as a form of advertising for them.

Yea it's a tough sell. Most that I know who do it, do it as a hobby, because they love photography and motorsports. A few in this area are professional photogs, but they make their living doing traditional wedding, graduation photos, etc...

Hey, it's just the way it is. I'll shut up now.:)

Get over it fellas! Who wants to buy this pic? Not me, or anyone else. It was taken in memory of a fellow motorcycle enthusiest. Cry all you want about copyright. :excuseme:

Great helmet, there is a good story behind it!

And a great guy behind the good story

I am not familiar with the man on the helmet, and I mean no disrespect, but would like to hear the story behind it, if any one knows and is willing to share. thanks

No sorry needed for me Kelly,,,was merely just giving my 2 cents on the matter and just pointing out some stuff for people to think about,,thats all.

There was not a stealing of anything, I can't believe anyone could be upset about a posting of this sort. I'm not going to bastardize this thread.

The helmet was once Jeff Kaylor's, a grey open face Arai helmet that I assume was impersonating Raymond from Hall's. Who back in the day (and currently) could sport a mullet and an open face helmet in style.

If I get any more details I will provide...

When I talked to Jay about fuel tanks, I mentioned the pics. He said the helmet had belonged someone else and was an atrocious color before. I immediately pictured an early nineties Flourescent Arai MXC. I guess it would go with the mullet!:busted:
