  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

oil strainers 449/511

Hey guys just purchased a 2012 449. I'm midway through an oil change and I noticed the two mesh strainers are different and I can't remember which way they go?

ust wanted to say I am so glad this forum is here with all of the input that I have gleaned from everyone I have transformed my bike into the reliable single rut monster that I feel confident with, but before I did any mods I spent a day trapped in the woods :banghead: rode about 5 miles worked myself to death thought I was going to have to walk out, but now:
13 tooth front sprocket, FMF power core silencer, the AKRO map installed and race switch plug jumped out. YAHOOO**************************************** this is want I wanted no more stalling almost climbs hills at idle if I wanted to and still has a top speed of 80mph which is plenty fast enough for me and I did all of these mods for under 350.00 total:D

My 511 will pull past 90 with stock gearing. I have a new 13 tooth, and some new tires to install (Pirelli 21).
Plan on trying the 13 tooth for single track rides.

i Installed the 13 tooth and 49 rear.. helps heaps and use the clutch a bit. Still enough topspeed but also good in single and climps. MAP 3 (Akrapovic setting) here in Australia. Bike comes Standard with two mufflers. Stock taken off, oxy sensor pulled out and AKRO(MAP3) . Suspension Set up done on front and rear. Happy with it. 3 months old and 1000km bush on it.
