  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc Oil in coolant

Eaglefreek

Husqvarna
Pro Class
Since I have some broken ribs and can't ride, I decided to tear the bike down and do some much needed maintenance. When I drained the coolant, there appeared to be oil in it. I've dealt with the leaky waterpump seal, but that put coolant in my trans oil. Could it be caused by a leaking head oring?

Could it be caused by a leaking head oring?

I wouldn't think so. That would mean it would be premix, and I don't see that as being very likely. With the suck/compress nature of the engine, I'd think it would suck in a noticeable amount of coolant into the combustion which would make it smoke and stink pretty bad.

How much oil are we talking? Any way you can tell if it seems to be gas/premix or crank case oil? Could it be possible that the seal was put in backwards and allowed the oil into the pump? I remember that seal being a bit hard to tell which side was in. I just can't think of anything else that wouldn't cause a lot of other issues.

They are drops of oil, it's not mixed together. If I were to guess maybe a 1/4 cup. I've never had to add coolant since replacing the waterpump seal over a year ago. Since I have the bike apart I might as well take the waterpump apart and inspect everything.
