  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Oil Change on TE-510

Stomper51

Husqvarna
C Class
I just did my first Oil change on my TE-510 and change the filter and clean the 3 screen in the lower case. when I removed the single plug that holds the single screen there was more oil that drain out of the case, is this normal. then when I was adding the new oil back in to the case I put in around 1.2 to 1.4 quarts of oil and It was half way in the glass and the book said 1.8 quarts of oil is there something I am missing. Do I need to running the engine or ride the bike a few minutes and then recheck the oil level.

Oil draining when you remove the screens is perfectly normal, also to check the oil level the bike sound be running, on a level surface and upright. It bet once you fire the bike up the oil level in the window will drop dramatically.

yes run the engine...then check with bike level

you can actually drain all the oil from the lower screen cover on the left side.....and not touch the drain bolt (but its always good to pull it anyway to check the magnet)

I actually do it this way....tip bike on right side(lay it on its side) remove left side screen cover and screens and clean them(dont put them in yet)...then flip the bike over and lay it on the left side (catch the oil is coming out of the lower screen hole)..while the bike is laying on the LH side I now replace the RH filter and remove the drain bolt at the same time to check the magnet...

then flip it over again to put the screens back in... and then fill the sump....

might seem complex...but it saves oils running all over the place

Yes, you certainly can get a few more ounces of oil to drain by leaning the bike over with the two screens out.

On the bottom drain plug, (crank pin plug to I imagine) make sure you put the washers smooth side toward the motor. Mine was an oily mess under the motor untill I figured this out.
