• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Oil change at 600 miles - found debri in left side mesh filter

nex

Husqvarna
C Class
I cleaned it out, 2nd oil change (did 1st oil change at 300 miles, just replaced the filter).

There were non-metal particles, some as large as 2-3mm long in the mesh filter on the left side of the bike. Right side mesh filter and oil filter looked fine. Nothing came through in the oil or on magnetic plug.

Ideas where it could have come from and what it is?

It does not make any sense to clean right side, because it is always clean... You just change oil, filter and right side.

I think you mean left side.

Nex, was the debris you found stringy rubber/plastic? That is just excess case sealant from when the motor was assembled. I just did my 3rd oil change at about 2800 miles and I still had a few strings of the stuff in the mesh tube.

You're going to get some crap like that stuck in the left side screen for the first couple oil changes. It will slow down over time. I still get some little bits in mine at 9100 miles on the odometer, but nothing alarming.

I would also get chunks of RTV sealant in the left side screen after a valve check, when I was using RTV on the valve cover gasket. I have since stopped using sealant on the valve cover gasket. It doesn't leak without sealant and I'd rather not deal with the mess.

To this day, I have yet to find anything in the right side screen. If you want to check the right side religiously, do it every time you check the valves.

I'd guess if you started finding chunks in the right side screen, you have something wrong.
